Zero alcohol consumption during pregnancy

Isn’t it fun hanging out with the girls and popping a bottle of wine to relax? It sure is fun! But not when you are pregnant! It has been advised that no amount of alcohol is safe during pregnancy.

This is because, drinking during pregnancy can lead to ‘Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders’ (FAS), a group of conditions that can occur in a child whose mother consumed alcohol during pregnancy. Drinking-related birth defects and developmental disabilities are avoidable through total abstinence from alcohol while pregnant.

So, no need for you to go checking the label of a bottle of wine or beer, looking for the % alcohol concentration. Experts say you need to wait nine months to taste any amount of alcohol, once the “bun is in the oven”!
